Im so sorry I keep deleting the post but I got this for the mRNA: UCAAUUGAUUUGCAACAGAACCUUGCAGACUUCACCUCAUCG. My guess is probably off, but I got "students are odd because they dream about eating anthropology, which is bad and unusual for monsters."
Stephanie, the only error I see is that you were missing a stop codon at the end of your sentence, so it just never ended. The location where it should be is CCG, which is no where close to the stop codon UAG so I think it was just omitted. Otherwise, your coding was good.
Breze, I'm having some trouble following what you did and it would have been good to include a little more of your work. Here's a few issues for you to correct:
1. You have posted your RNA, which helps, and for the most part, you have transcribed it correctly. You mistranscribed one of those early thymines (T) but otherwise, the RNA is correct.
2. You needed to look for the start codon (AUG) to know where to start. You start with the right word ("student") but then I can't follow where it went after that. The rest of your sentence doesn't match the codons.
3. You have 16 words in your sentence but only enough bases to form 14 words. I don't understand how that could happen.
Please review my decode below to understand how to do this process. Email if you have additional questions or want to clarify anything.
DNA: AGTTTACTAAACGTTGTCTGGGAACGTCTGAAGTGGAGTAGCCG RNA: UCAAAUGAUUUGCAACAGACCCUUGCAGACUUCACCUCAUCGGC Codons: AUG AUU UGC AAC AGA CCC UUG CAG ACU UCA CCU CAU CGG C (start) Students after anthropology class want to eat pizza and become sleep(y) adapt C
One additional comment to both of you: Very good back-and-forth between you. I appreciate that you turned this into a conversation. That's how it's supposed to be done!

ReplyDeleteThat is totally fine!:)
DeleteThough that will not be the answer to it. You are quite close to the answer.
Lol, I'm so terrible at this kind of stuff! What was the code? :)
ReplyDeleteNo worries!:)
DeleteIt was "Students after anthropology class want to eat pizza and become sleepy."
Thank you for trying!!
DeleteI can't believe I couldn't guess that!
